The word “Cenote” comes from the Mayan,“Dzonot” which means sacred well. Cenotes are only found in this part of the world and were a sacred place for the Mayan civilization. They represented the window to the underworld in the mayan vision of the cosmos. Cenotes have crystal clear waters and are natural decorated with stalactites and stalagmites an underwater landscape you should not miss.
